Lakshmi is the Hindu Goddess of Love, Abundance, and Beauty. She has four arms symbolizing the four aims in life: Artha - material wealth; Kama - bodily and emotional pleasure; Dharma - your life's purpose; and Moksha - spiritual liberation. Moksha is the ultimate goal; the other three aims are necessary to achieve it.

We need a balance of all four to live a happy life. Lakshmi reminds us that while it's nice to have pretty things, real wealth comes from our inner abundance. Only when we can look within for love and contentment and not externally through material goods or accolades will we feel satisfied. Lakshmi encourages us to spend at least as much time growing our inner wealth as we do our external wealth.

How to Connect with Lakshmi

Lakshmi embodies grace, generosity, and gratitude. You can connect with the goddess by acting as the goddess. Today, sit down and write out three things you are grateful for and why. And then really sit with that feeling of gratitude.
 

When you appreciate all that is going well in your life, you change the structure of your brain so that you begin to operate from a place of abundance rather than scarcity and attract more good your way.
